Vanessa Millán

Vanessa Millán’s career is rooted in equity at the intersection of civic advocacy and environmentalism. She is driven by her experience growing up in an immigrant family in a diverse community.

Vanessa has ten years of experience in political consulting, dedicated to mobilizing audiences to advocate on progressive issues, from strategic messaging to outreach and plan development with cultural competency. She has led independent expenditures, ran Get-Out-The-Vote and grassroots lobbying campaigns, and advised candidates from the federal to local levels. Vanessa’s efforts resulted in a dozen new Latino Members of Congress and a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives in 2018.

Vanessa Millán served as a political appointee in the Biden-Harris Administration at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, in the Administrator's Office of Public Engagement and Environmental Education, as the Associate Deputy Director. In this role, she oversaw public engagement for major initiatives and billion-dollar programs under the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support climate change investments, economic progress, and disadvantaged and rural communities, as well as historic efforts to advance environmental justice.

Through her firm, Con Cultura, Vanessa currently advises clients on communication, partnerships, and outreach strategies across politics, the environment, education, public health, civic advocacy and engagement, grassroots organizing, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. She develops and implements strategic communications and voter contact programs with effective, relevant messaging to achieve clients’ goals, delivering award-winning results.

Vanessa’s leadership and achievements throughout her career have been recognized with several awards, including "Rising Star" from Campaigns & Elections, the "40 Under 40" award from the American Association of Political Consultants, and “40 Under 40 Young, Gifted, and Green” from Black Millennials for Flint.

She currently serves as a Board Member of the Washington Conservation Action and the Washington Conservation Action Education Fund.

Vanessa is a first-generation college graduate and received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with double minors in Psychology and Education from American University in Washington, DC. She also has a certificate in Diversity & Inclusion from Cornell University.
